Minor forced as Bonded Labourer

Description

Ram (8), a poor boy was forcefully snatched away from his home in Sukurrhuttu, Jharkhand as a ransomed for his alcoholic father’s debt and kept as a bonded labourer.


Ram's father died with large amount of uncleared debt to many people. A particular man forcefully took Ram and made him worked in a hotel from 4:00 am till late night to which Ram's poor mother could not do anything. He was abused, beaten badly and insulted every day. He was given very little food.


At the same time, his sister (10) was raped and was being rehabilitated by EFIC@R.


After EFICAR confirmed the incident, they filed a case under the Child Labor, Bonded Labor, Provisions of JJ Act, etc… The Police and EFICAR jointly raided the hotel and rescued the boy, arrested the owner and kept him in police custody.
